September Update - Steam Demo 0.2 Update


NOTE: Because I've yet to migrate over to Godot 4.3, the demo available here on itch will not be updated. I will continue to post devlog updates from Steam though so be sure to check out Smol Survivors on Steam.

Heylo y'all,

Releasing a demo for people to play has been a big thing for me. I feel I really dropped the ball with the initial reveal so I've been hard at work to bring it up to a more appropriate level.

What's new:

  • New area: Volatile Volcano. This area has some new enemies that have both explosive and fiery personalities. Comes with it's own new boss as well.
  • Bosses updated. Bosses now have triggers associated with things like damage taken and can enter a second phase that changes how they behave. They also drop an item called Magnet that will allow players to quickly gather scattered exp and coins.
  • Quests. Quests can be accessed from the new Quest Board once unlocked and are a great way to make some extra gold. Rescue quests are now the primary method of unlocking NPC facilities. The other two quests are called Defender and Exterminator.
  • NPC Facilities. Specific NPCs now offer services once brought back to camp via Rescue quests. There are currently two available as of this update.
  • Badge System. Brand new feature. Allows equipping up to four different badges that modify various aspects of combat such as granting a revive, increasing speed, and even doubling exp.
  • Dash Ability. Brand new feature. Performs an intangible dash through enemies in case players get surrounded.
  • UI update. The menus have gotten a bit of a glow-up and streamlined. This includes a new responsive input method that currently supports keyboard, mouse, and Xbox controller layouts.
